Falls in older adults are common, affect independence and are associated with increased morbidity, mortality and health care costs. While trends show some chronic diseases are diminishing among older adults, falls and fall-related injuries are increasing. In October 2022, world guidelines for falls prevention and management for older adults was published.

This project was a global initiative to create standardized clinical practice guidelines that can be used in different settings and countries. A multidisciplinary committee across 40 countries, including physiotherapy researchers, worked on this project.
