The presentation will explore current evidence surrounding conservative versus surgical treatment pathways, alongside pragmatic considerations including clinical diagnosis, outcome measures and exercise progression through return to sport decision making. Attendees will gain practical insights to support evidence-informed rehabilitation for this common traumatic injury.

About the Speaker

James Braithwaite, PT, MSc(PT), FCAMPT, CSCS



James is a private practice physiotherapist and owner of Braithwaite Physiotherapy in Toronto. A graduate of Queen's University, he earned his FCAMPT designation in 2015 and serves as a credentialling instructor in the Orthopaedic Division’s Advanced Integrated Musculoskeletal (AIM) Physiotherapy program. James has a particular interest in exercise-based care and return-to-performance decision-making. After sustaining his own Achilles tendon rupture while playing volleyball in 2025, he developed an even deeper appreciation for the clinical and personal challenges involved in rehabilitation and return to sport associated with this injury.
