She co-owns a Canadian-based teaching company, Pelvic Health Solutions, and teaches internationally on the physiotherapy for pelvic floor problems. She also manages her own practice in Huntsville, Ontario.

"Joining Embodia has been such a pleasure. I resisted it partly because of my own discomfort with the digital age, social media, etc. However, Maggie and Elie have made it so easy to make the transition to digital sharing of exercises (for patients) and knowledge for clinicians.

The nice part about online learning is the ability to go back and review lectures/concepts that you didn't really get the first time. E-learning also has the advantage of being more cost-effective with less time lost from work, travel and the expense of hosting courses at a physical location.

The second part of joining Embodia which has been a real eye-opener for me was the enthusiastic embracing of digital exercise prescription by my patients. My patients LOVE having an exercise video to follow and reminders on their phone to tell them to do their exercises. This has been very well received by my patients. No more paper handouts!! The trees in beautiful Huntsville, my new hometown, are also saying, "Thank you" :)"

Debbie Patterson Embodia Continuing Education Physiotherapy
Debbie Patterson
Registered Physiotherapist
My Courses on Embodia

Debbie Patterson is an orthopaedic physiotherapist with a special interest in the treatment of persistent pain. Early in her career she recognized that the medical model of physiotherapy treatment often failed people with persistent pain. This led her on a career path of learning about the current science of pain, and searching for clinical relevance in the treatment of pain.

For over 25 years her clinical practice has focused on providing evidence based treatment for persistent pain conditions, including chronic low back and neck pain, complex regional pain syndrome, phantom limb pain and fibromyalgia. She has treated pre teenage children with chronic pain conditions, teenagers, and adults.

She was a founding member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Pain Science Group and later was a founding member of the Pain Science Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, serving on the executive as Secretary for two years. Debbie is committed to postgraduate education of health care providers.

She provides courses on “Pain in Women”, “Fibromyalgia”, and "Understand the Brain to Treat Pain". She also mentors physiotherapists who are interested in developing their passion and skill in the treatment of persistent pain conditions.

"As a physiotherapist, I have always been an advocate for the use of technology for knowledge translation with our colleagues and for treatment of our patients.

Embodia gave me the opportunity I was seeking to publish some of my courses on line to reach a broader audience at a reduced price compared to the fee for a live course.

From the beginning, Maggie was encouraging, supportive, and informative in terms of the vision and the process of using Embodia as a platform.

The editing team was prompt and extremely helpful in getting my material ready for publishing.

The team at Embodia is innovative - always looking for ways to improve the course delivery and publication, to make it easier to access my courses, to check statistics about who has attended the courses and to review their evaluations and questions.

It has been a pleasure working with Embodia. I strongly recommend that physiotherapists access this very helpful platform for ongoing learning and better patient care."

"The Embodia team has been absolutely wonderful to work with. As a university instructor, I am accustomed to receiving support for teaching. However, when teaching outside the university system, much of the preparation is done independently. The Embodia team is responsive, skilled and knowledgeable and provides high quality support to better course quality.

It is really exciting for our profession that Embodia is able to support high quality and accessible professional development. Embodia's willingness to collaborate with clinical/academic experts and our national association demonstrates a strong commitment to the betterment of learning opportunities for physical therapists, physical therapy assistants and other health professionals. Research degree in Rehabilitation Therapy (Queens University, Canada). She has continued to pursue this passion over the past 25 years by focusing exclusively on the development of a PILATES–based Physiotherapy treatment system, founding a PhysioPilates clinic in Hong Kong and more recently in her native Toronto. In 2006, Rochenda published the first rigorously designed research study on a Pilates - based physiotherapy treatment and she has been active internationally training Physiotherapists in this system since 1996.

Rochenda believes in outcome based, patient focused 1 : 1 care addressing an injury in the context of the body functioning as an integrated muscle and movement system.

For the past 3 years my clinical care has been enhanced and modernized with the help of embodia. I use the home exercise prescription app on a daily basis. The home exercises I prescribe are very technical due to a focus on motor control and the app has proven invaluable to ensure correct technique and better outcomes. Patients love it! And it keeps me on top of what I have prescribed.

Embodia has proven an extremely valuable adjunct to the resource material used when teaching my courses. Participants appreciate a video review of the exercise treatments taught in the practical sessions. My resource book is now 'alive'!

Rajam Roose Embodia Continuing Education Physiotherapy
Rajam Roose
Founder San Diego Pain Summit
My Courses on Embodia

Rajam Roose entered the massage therapy profession in 1999 and it was during her 16 years in the massage profession that she developed an interest in pain research and became acutely aware of the gaps between current pain research and clinical practice. She began organizing multi-disciplinary continuing education workshops for clinicians in 2013. After hearing physical therapy students express frustration with learning research in their programs but not understanding how to utilize it in their practice, Rajam founded the premier San Diego Pain Summit conference in 2015. In November 2015, she closed her massage practice to focus on the San Diego Pain Summit.

Since then, the Summit has had the honor to present many well-respected researchers, scientists, and clinicians on stage. Rajam is passionate about making a difference in how the U.S. healthcare system manages pain and strives to create an event where clinicians can learn how to add upon their current pain management frameworks. Her natural organizational skills and a penchant for staying current with pain research has helped to make the San Diego Pain Summit a successful event.

"Rajam has a preference for collaborating with other companies and organizations who share a similar vision which is why, in 2018, she connected with the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) and formerly adopted the IASP Curriculum Outline on Pain for Physical Therapy as the standard for all current and future San Diego Pain Summit hosted workshops and conferences. Embodia shares a similar vision and Rajam is honored to collaborate and provide Summit conference presentations to their audience. "
Kyle Coffey Embodia Continuing Education Physiotherapy
Kyle Coffey
My Courses on Embodia

Dr. Kyle Coffey is a physical therapist, exercise physiologist, faculty member, and clinical educator who is passionate about educating patients and clinicians about physical therapy, movement, health, fitness, and wellness.

What began as self-application of blood flow restriction (BFR) training to stay healthy while recovering from an upper extremity injury, turned into a love for the research and a desire to safely and effectively apply in both the rehab and training populations. Time is our greatest resource, in life and in the clinic - an adjunct to traditional strength training was needed to help people train and rehab smarter, not harder. Thus Modern Strength Training was born!

In addition to owning his own clinic and educational company, Motus Physical Therapy and Performance, Dr. Coffey is an Assistant Teaching Professor and Exercise Science Program Director at his alma mater, the University of Massachusetts Lowell. His research interests include the use of blood flow restriction in rehabilitation, the role of physical activity in memory, cognition, and academic achievement particularly in the elementary through high school population, and health promotion and disease prevention strategies.

Alexis Marbach Embodia Continuing Education Physiotherapy
Alexis Marbach
Yoga Therapist, Masters Public Health
My Courses on Embodia

Alexis is passionately committed to working with survivors of sexual violence. She believes that traditional modalities to support survivors (counseling, therapy, support groups) do not necessarily work for every survivor and that each individual deserves to have a number of holistic healing options to best meet their needs. It is disheartening that survivors still struggle to get the support and long term care that they need from service providers and from family and friends. It is challenging for informal support networks to understand and conceptualize that healing is a life long process, and that the path to healing and wellness is not linear and often times feels nonsensical. Alexis wants to be able to help survivors develop a toolkit of mental, physical, and breath-work exercises that they can call upon at any time to reduce the influence of a trigger, regain their connection with their body, and calm their mind.

Alexis’s experience working in the field of sexual violence intervention and prevention has lead her to be incredibly sensitive to the needs of survivors. She is conscious of her word choice when giving instruction and provide physical adjustments only after asking a student for permission to be in their physical space. Students know where we are headed, and what kind of poses they will be working on so that they feel as though they can control their physical and mental energy and not be surprised by any parts of class.

Keith Meldrum Embodia Continuing Education Physiotherapy
Keith Meldrum
My Courses on Embodia

As this year's patient panelist, Keith opens up about his experience suffering decades of chronic pain. Keith Meldrum is an amazing human who has lived with chronic pain for nearly 32 years following a serious single vehicle motor vehicle crash in 1986 in central British Columbia, Canada.

Since that car accident put him through emergency surgery, Keith has required multiple follow up surgeries over the years to alleviate suffering from persistent pain. After trying multiple nerve block injection treatments to manage his pain, Keith was deemed to be a candidate in 2005 for a spinal cord stimulator (SCS) program at a leading hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. SCS for abdominal pain is not common as SCS is most effective for limb pain.

The SCS helped Keith manage his pain and was his introduction to pain science and the biopsychosocial model. The SCS was effective until it had to be replaced in late 2015 and has not been effective since. After revision surgeries, pain specialists determined that Keith would best be served by a new SCS technology available in the United States, but not yet approved in Canada.

Keith is a Deputy Fire Chief for the City of Kelowna Fire Department and is responsible for Communications and Emergency Management.

Kira Stoops Embodia Continuing Education Physiotherapy
Kira Stoops
My Courses on Embodia

Kira Stoops has been many kinds of pain patients — a pediatric one, when her headaches started at age six; a chronic but active one, when she skied, hiked, backpacked and ski-toured through her 20s; and a severe one, when a nasty neck snap refused to resolve in her early 30s and left her unable to go to the grocery store without overwhelming pain.

Before discovering a biopsychosocial framework, she’d been MRI’d, Rolfed, massaged, physical therapied, injected, needled, chakra-aligned, counseled, supplemented, chiropracted, muscle-activated, medicated, rollered, Egoscue’d, Sarno’d, and more.

Since these treatments, she's muddled through more clinical papers than any state school art major should attempt, spearheaded a Facebook support group for similarly science-minded patients, and is currently taking a massive sabbatical to question everything she knows and to rebuild a life with more SIMs than DIMs.

Jenny's passion is helping women to better understand and reconnect with their bodies to help address their pelvic health concerns through education, education and empowerment. Women’s pelvic health has, unfortunately, been considered a taboo topic and has historically been overlooked in health education, our medical system, and our culture as a whole. This means that concerns about bladder leaking, pelvic organ prolapse, sexual pain or pelvic/low back pain that have been overlooked or considered “normal” with aging or after having children. Through her role as a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist, she has worked with women to identify and talk about these issues, as well as review how to address them through a multifaceted, holistic health approach. This approach includes physiotherapy assessment and treatment (internal assessment of the pelvic floor muscles available, as well as gentle manual therapy techniques internally and externally), as well as addressing other contributing factors as such health history, stress, sleep, relationships, exercise.

Through Pelvic Health Physiotherapy, her goal is to help you feel great - physically and emotionally – so that you can exercise without leaking, enjoy pain-free sex, and resume your preferred activities feeling supported, comfortable and confident. He has employed countless therapists and support staff, fired some and re-hired others.

While doing this he did not even live in the same city as 5 of his clinics!

Since selling his health businesses Paul now prefers spending even more time with his family and friends, at the beach, or at home working on the Million Dollar Health Professional Program, Profit Club, One on One Coaching, The Practice Acceleration Program, presenting live seminars and working on his online education portal.
